Pastor Phil and Lynette Strong

We are Phil and Lynette Strong. We arrived in Plain from Houston, Texas in November of 2005. I (Phil) was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and my wife, Lynette, was born in Bellingham, Washington, but spent most her life in Iowa.

Lynette and I met in Des Moines, Iowa in 1982 and were married in Dayton, Ohio on July 30, 1983. We were blessed with the birth of our son Austin in 1985 and our daughter Erin in 1987. Austin lives in Texas, while Erin now lives in Cashmere but often visits us at the parsonage in Plain.

We have been in vocational ministry since 1990. Beginning in 1990, we served as Youth Pastor at First Church of the Open Bible in Dayton, Ohio. In 1993, we accepted the invitation of Harvest Christian Fellowship (Cambridge, Ohio) to serve as Senior Pastor. We served the congregation at H.C.F. until 1999 when we accepted yet another invitation to serve as the Lead Pastor of Heritage Christian Church in Toledo, Ohio. We were privileged to serve the congregation at H.C.C. until 2004 when we relocated to Houston, Texas.

In November of 2005, we accepted the invitation of the family at Plain Community Church to serve as their Pastor. Our transition to the Plain valley proved to be relatively easy thanks in great part to the hospitality and welcome of the church and community.

I (Phil) enjoy numerous outdoor activities (horseback riding, bicycling, hiking and golf), college basketball (University of Kentucky Wildcats!) and Minor League baseball (especially the Toledo Mud Hens). Lynette also enjoys various outdoor activities (walking, biking, gardening and golf) as well as landscaping, floral design and decorating. We both enjoy a good cup of coffee, smooth jazz, Lebanese food (if you know where we can get some, please email us!) and riding our motorcycle together through the beautiful Cascade Mountain region!
