24 Hr Prayer Vigil Responses & Prayers
Donna's Post continued:
Paul, “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-7 James, “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:17-18 Peter, “Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.” 1 Peter 3:8-9 Thank You, Father, for loving us so much that You sent Your Son, Jesus, not only to teach us Your ways, but to ultimately be willing to humble Himself, enduring the most humiliating insults and excruciating pain, sacrificing Himself on the cross in payment for our sins; so that we can be with You forever. Thank You, Jesus, for being the ultimate example of how we should love each other. In a world full of division and noise, help us to stand out as Your true disciples, through our love for one another, our community and the world. Help us to always seek Your wisdom, to be humble and willing to listen to You and each other. Help us to plant seeds of peace and to walk out our lives in a way that draws others into a closer relationship to You, not through noise or nagging, but through Your gentle love in all that we do. We praise You for Your promise to always be with us, no matter what we face. Thank You for this new season of life at PCC. We know that you will be with Pastor Chico and Jennie, and all of us, through this transition and we praise You for that. We look forward to seeing all that You have planned for us in the coming days, months and years. We lift up all of our prayers to you in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen ~Donna |
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil. Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands! Psalm 90:1-2, 13-17 Yes Lord, let Your favor be upon us and help us to recognize and discern the ways, places and people that need Your love and touch! Establish the work of our hands in your service! ~Kathi |
Jesus, savior, king,
May your Holy Spirit draw those to the Good Friday and Easter services whom you want to speak to. Open their eyes to your great love for them and the power of your death and resurrection. Help them open their hearts to you. Amen ~Mari Lynn God thank you for our brothers and sisters in Christ who remain faithful to you across the globe. Strengthen our trust. Comfort those who are persecuted for their faith in you. Bless this Easter weekend and time of remembering and reflecting on the greatest act of love.
